About
Meet Savannah Ngo
Learner. Parent. Activist. Literacy Specialist.
Savannah Ngo is the founder of Cohort Education, driven by a belief that every child deserves access to excellent reading instruction — regardless of where they live or what resources their family has. Her focus is on scaling the things that produce meaningful results in an unreasonably short amount of time.
Literacy Expertise
With years of experience planning and delivering literacy instruction for students in grades 1 through 5 — many of whom scored significantly below benchmark standards — Savannah has developed deep expertise in evidence-based reading curricula including Words Their Way, Reading Mastery, and SIPPS. She knows firsthand what it takes to help a struggling reader build confidence and skill.
Beyond the Classroom
Savannah is passionate about learning and development, helping professionals learn new skills in engaging and effective ways. She also created Reader Meter, a tool used by teachers, tutors, and parents to support educational assessments and track student progress.
Why Cohort Education?
Cohort Education is a passion project born from Savannah and her husband's shared commitment to finding swift and substantial solutions to implementing effective reading instruction. Based in Pasadena, California, Cohort provides free, personalized one-on-one literacy tutoring for children at local libraries and online via Zoom.
Our Mission
The mission is simple: close the literacy gap by connecting students with trained tutors who meet them exactly where they are. Whether a child is just learning their letters or working to strengthen reading comprehension, Cohort Education is here to help them grow.
